Why work with me?
Websites, we all need them if we own some type of business, personal blog, store or anything. If you don’t have a website, you might as well not exist. To be honest, most computer savy people can build some form of website. The internet has produced simple tools like Weebly, Wix and Square for the folks that just need a simple stamp on the internet. Not to bash these tools at all because they are great starter tools. They are also very limited and cant be fully customized to each client. I will explain more below.
Current pricing and features of the top 3 website builders
Some thoughts on the top 3 website builders
By looking at the top 3 website builders on the web, you can see one thing in common. They all come with a monthly fee. Now while they do host your site, they all have their limits with what you can do on them once your logged on. Wix has a video limit. So if you upload a lot of video to showcase your work, forget using them. Weebly has a storage limit between 500mb to unlimited. Each company includes a domain name but then renews annually (it doesn’t list the cost they will charge on that but figure $12-14). If you had to choose one of these, Squarespace may be the best option for cost and features, but again your limited to what Squarespace can make of your site. Don’t even think about going custom with them or really anyone of these. These builders are made as a drag and drop, that’s it.
What I use to make your site look good
The tool I use to build sites is called WordPress. I am sure you have heard it before but for those who haven’t. WordPress is what over 60 million websites are built on. WordPress was released in 2003, over 16 years ago. WordPress was manly used as a blogging tool but as its development took off, it became one of the top tools to use when building a site. Websites like CNN, The New Yorker, BBC America, Sony Music and even The Walt Disney Company. WordPress can cater to anyone and any business because of the use of the two top features; Themes and Plugins. A theme is what gives your page that unique look, feel and functionality of it. There are hundreds of themes you can choose from, some free and some paid. I prefer the paid themes because you have more options to get a unique look when designing your site. It makes my job at designing less constrictive. Plugins operate in the background, sort of under the theme. There main job is to extend the functionality of your site. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of them. There are plugins for everything you think you may need your site to do and more. Most plugins are free, but then there are paid plugins as well that offer more capabilities then its free counterpart (if there is one). Depending on your site, you may never need to pay for a plugin.

Price
There is no true pricing structure when it comes to website design. Usually its an hourly rate,. Websites take quite a few hours to design, develop and test before its live. Some can take over 40 hours. ALAE Designs uses the per project cost. This way you know exactly how much your site will cost upfront vs getting a bill for hours.
